SUMMARY:
Amelia Moore wants only one thing—to secure the future happiness of her younger sister, Clara. With their stepfather’s looming death, the two sisters will soon be on their own—without family, a home, or a penny to their names. When an invitation arrives to join a house party at Lakeshire Park, Amelia grasps at the chance. If she can encourage a match between Clara and their host, Sir Ronald, then at least her sister will be taken care of.
Little does she know that another guest, the arrogant and overconfident Mr. Peter Wood, is after the same goal for his own sister. Amelia and Peter begin a rivalry that Amelia has no choice but to win. But competing against Peter—and eventually playing by his rules—makes Amelia vulnerable to losing the only thing she has left to claim: her heart.
BOOK REVIEW:
I forgot how much I love a good Regency historical romance until I read (well, listened to) Lakeshire Park! Once I started, I couldn’t stop and finished it in just three days. This book was so wholesome and nostalgic it made me want to put on a long dress, walk through a meadow somewhere in England, have a picnic, and drink tea.
Lakeshire Park felt like a cross between a Jane Austen novel and a Melanie Dickerson book, but without the length of Austen or the Christian themes of Dickerson. The plot had just enough drama to keep me hooked, even if a few parts were a little predictable. Still, there was a unique twist that made it stand out.
This would be a great book for teens since it’s clean and easy to read, but the story is strong enough to keep any Regency-loving adult entertained too. I read this as a 20-year-old college girl and was completely hooked! Also, I wish there was a movie for this!
Overall, Lakeshire Park was clean, sweet, and exactly what I didn’t know I was missing. If you’re looking for a feel-good historical romance with a satisfying ending, I definitely recommend this one. And since it’s set in the summertime, it makes for the perfect easy summer read!
Things to Mention: Includes some hand-holding and a few kisses, with details like not wanting the kiss to stop and kissing across the face. No other details.
